Our trip to Puerto Vallarta at the end of July and first week of August 2021 was amazing. Even with the Covid restrictions and not bringing a team, God used Elsa and I as a tool to share His unfailing love to those he placed in front of us.
Javier, was one of the people that God placed in front of us. He had no fingers on one hand and only one on the other. While John went to get food for him, Elsa helped him by giving him a drink of water and shared the Good News of Jesus with him. Once John returned with the food, Elsa fed Javier by hand. He was hungry and thirsty and we stayed with him a while. But during our time with him, he found a hunger for something new in his life, Jesus, and he said the sinner's prayer with us. There is nothing more special than watching someone's eyes light up as the Spirit of God enters into them.
We were walking and praying for god to lead us to the next person to talk to, He led us to some young boys who were selling coffee beans. They traveled to Puerto Vallarta from Puebla to sell the coffee to help their families back home. What courage these young boys had. They slept on the beach at night and ate little, as what they earned was needed at home. We have them some clothing and a few backpacks and helped them with food. The great thing was, though we had packed a soccer ball in the backpack in the morning, along with the pump, we had no idea who it was for. So John pumped up the ball and had some fun kicking it around with the youngest boy, who 8 years old. We were feeling blessed that God placed us in the right place at the right time to meet these youngsters
One day as we were walking on the boardwalk, we ran into a beautiful elderly lady, Maria. She was in pain from a fall that she had the day before. But she was still happy and smiling. After we talked to her a while, she revealed how she had been a believer of Jesus for many years. Her faith in God was amazing and she knew that God was watching over her. We prayed with her for healing, trusting that God would hear our prayer and answer it quickly. We have her some clothing that our amazing donors had given us, talked a little more with here and parted ways, hoping to see her again.
John was blessed to be asked to preach the message to the English congregation of the First Baptist Church in Puerto Vallarta. It was a blessing for him to be called to speak as God's ambassador and share a message on believing that through Jesus, we who believe can build a faith that can move mountains and move us forward in His purpose and will for our lives
